The way we see Valparaíso

A city revealed one layer at a time.

Photography shows the Valparaíso we walk through; this illustration represents the city each traveller discovers and carries home: hills, funiculars, houses, harbour and memories held within one story.

Every walk is hosted by a Valparaíso resident and brings together local experience, documented history and conversation.

World Heritage since 2003

A port city shaped by life on the hills.

UNESCO recognizes the Historic Quarter as an exceptional witness to the port city that connected cultures, trade and urban innovation across the Pacific in the late nineteenth century.

Its natural amphitheatre, hillside-adapted urban fabric, port architecture and historic funicular elevators preserve a remarkable relationship between geography, cultural exchange and urban innovation.

The inscribed property covers 23.2 hectares with a 44.5-hectare buffer zone; it does not encompass the whole city.

Before the walk

Frequently asked questions

Who tells the stories?

A host who lives in Valparaíso. Each walk combines memory, documented history and conversation.

How much walking is involved?

Valparaíso Through Local Eyes covers roughly 3–4 km with hills, stairs and uneven surfaces. We always explain the physical level and can adapt a private tour.

What if it rains or a funicular is closed?

We keep alternative routes ready. If weather or another event prevents safe operation, you may reschedule or receive the applicable refund.

Do prices include taxes?

Yes. We publish final prices in Chilean pesos. Before paying, you receive the inclusions, meeting point and cancellation policy in writing.

Can I join from a cruise ship?

Yes, as a private tour with prior confirmation of timing and access. The route includes a return buffer, and if the ship does not dock, the policy shared at booking will apply.

Is it accessible for reduced mobility?

Valparaíso's terrain creates barriers. Tell us what you need and we will assess a private route with fewer stairs and suitable access points, without promising what we cannot deliver.
